CLIENT DESCRIPTION

The County jurisdictional area, for location filming purposes, is comprised of the unincorporated portions of the multi-city Los Angeles County area. These unincorporated portions are sections of the County that do not lie within the boundaries of incorporated cities, such as Los Angeles, Pasadena, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, etc. Filming within each incorporated city is regulated by the ordinances, policies and procedures of that particular jurisdiction and is not subject to Los Angeles County regulations.

PERMITS FOR FILMING

By Los Angeles County ordinance, a temporary use permit (filming permit) is required for all location filming, on both public and private property, within areas that are under the jurisdiction of the County.

Film permit applications must be filed with FilmL.A. By contract, FilmL.A. is responsible for coordinating and approving on-location filming permits within the County of Los Angeles jurisdictional area.

INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS

Proof of insurance is required before FilmL.A. can begin processing your permit application. Please refer to the Insurance section of our website for further information.

PERMIT FEES

The County of Los Angeles does not assess a permit fee to film within its jurisdiction.  Film activity at County-owned properties will generate location fees. Use of County personnel, when required based on requested film activity, will generate personnel fees.

SPECIAL FORMS

No special forms are required. The FilmL.A. Permit Application includes all of the information about your production and requested activities required to process your permit.
